After reading through this thread again carefully I should mention this.
The OLF is the best place imo to discuss this kind of thing since there are so many makers who know how to get the job done and make excellent fiddles.

When I said there was a lot of misinformation what I was referring to was some Internet information, not here, mostly in the form of YouTube videos that can be misleading.

Preston just got back to me --- "X" braces 52' contour, all other top braces flat, Back Braces 26' contour. I am sure he tips the neck at 1.3 degrees. Preston's finger picking guitars have necks 1 3/4" at the nut.
